Belly Pic - 29 Weeks

Greenville Babies' Shower

A few weeks ago we had some amazing friends through us a baby shower here on the east coast. We totally weren't expecting to have one here since we had only lived here about 8 months or so. But some friends we had met playing co-ed softball asked if they could throw us a shower and of course we accepted. It ended up being beautiful that day, sunny with highs in the low 60s. We go to be outside and enjoy the spring air!! And more people showed up than I even thought would to shower our babies with love. Here are just a few pics from the shower, enjoy!!

Pregnancy - Week 27-29 Recap

Okay so the last few weeks have flown by to say the least. Between being taken out of work part time to full time to doctor's appointments to everything else going on I have been going non-stop. This weekend it has officially caught up to me!! But I'm happy to report through all the contractions, uncomfortableness, sleepless nights, etc I'm still pregnant and 30 weeks!! I don't have a ton of changes to report between the last few weeks, thank goodness. I've been having lots of sleepless nights. Which means working from home has definitely had its advantages over the last few weeks. I've been sleeping in and normally taking a nap around 2-3pm which leaves me feeling much more human. Is this my bodies way of preparing me for the twins?? I've been having lots of contractions at night, which my doc says is pretty normal. My only other new symptom or new complaint is migraines. I had migraines before I got pregnant but hadn't had one since I'd been pregnant, now I'm having about one a week! The doctor's gave me some pretty good medicine that actually works better than my pre-pregnancy migraine medicine.

I'm starting to really look forward to the babies being here. I know I will miss pregnancy but I'm ready to have them safe and sound in my arms. I'm also starting to really get nervous about everything becoming a twin mommy entails. I'm nervous about giving birth, breastfeeding, bringing them home, EVERYTHING!! Its all of the sudden becoming very surreal that my dream of being a mommy is actually coming true!!

I have so much more updating to do, including nursery pics and our last baby shower. I'm hoping to get it posted in the next few days but thank you cards are my top priority right now!!

Doctor's Appointment - 28 weeks, 3 days & 29 weeks, 3 days

Okay so I have tons of fun and uplifting things to share so I thought I would get through my last two doctor's appointments first. My last appointment at 28 weeks 3 days was where I had my glucose test, Woohoo! not really :-/ I was allowed to have eggs or toast early the morning of, so I woke up at like 6:30 to have something to eat. Some about plain eggs did nothing for me that morning, so I didn't eat much. My appointment was scheduled for 9am. So I drank the yummy little drink and off I went. For some reason I was so nervous about this test, I just really didn't want to fail. It was pretty routine. The doctor told me I was done with work, so I am now home full time. I'm not actually on bed rest but I just can't go in to work. When I run errands I can't be out and about for any more than 2 hours at a time. I guess all that's better than bedrest. I weighed 160.2lbs and my belly was measuring 36 weeks. Oh and I got the news the next day that I had passed my test. I had my Rhogam shot, I think its quite possibly the only shot I've ever gotten in the hip that didn't make it so sore the next day.

This week we were schedule for a growth scan and my hubby got off work to come in hopes he might get to glimpse at the in 4D. Started off as normal; weigh, pee in a cup, bp. My BP was a little on the high side today. It was 140/74 and there was a trace of protein in my urine. So that immediately had me worried. I didn't weigh much difference than last week, 160.6. After all that we went back for the u/s. The babies are getting so big that it's crazy to think we use to be able to see them both in one shot. So onto the semi-troublesome news. Baby girl is weighing 3 lbs 9 oz, whopper!! Baby boy however is only measuring 2 lbs 13 oz. The doctor was a little alarmed. He said that its normal about this time to start seeing some growth difference. The plan right now is not to start panicking but to start measuring them every week. Their feelings are that as long as both boy and girl are still growing and gaining weight they will let them continue but the moment baby boy starts showing a decrease or stop in growth we may have to look at bringing them on into the world. **Insert me freaking out** I told myself that I'm not going to freak out until next week. He said with two more weeks of growth scans we should have a good measure to chart both their growths. So please please pray that our little man starts growing over the next few days. Doctor wasn't extremely worried about my BP, he said since I was going to be coming in on a weekly basis we'd just keep a really close eye on it too!! That's about all, I got back on April fool's, so I'm hoping that little Landry is playing a really mean April Fool's joke on mommy and daddy. But please just pray for his growth. Pray that God will give him the strength to keep up his growth with his sister and that they will stay put for at least 6 more weeks or so.

Stay tuned for my tons more of catch up!

Doctor's Appointment - 27 Weeks 3 Days

Well ladies and gentlemen, I was officially cut back from work today. I am allowed to be in the office absolutely no more than 20 hours a week. I'm sad, as most of you know my hubby and I work together. Now for most couples this wouldn't be an ideal situation but for us it works perfectly and I actually miss him when he's not around during the days. But as my doctor pointed out, its time for me to solely put all my focus into these babies and getting through the coming weeks. Their target is 36 weeks, which is 9 more weeks, doesn't sound that bad. She said next week she could very well take me out of work all together but we'd play it by the week.

I weighed 157.2 today, so that's a total 42.2 lbs so far. I can tell my weight gain has slowed down tremendously over the last few weeks. I am measuring a little over 33 weeks, which is 6 weeks ahead!! Woah momma!!!! She said if I hit the 36 week mark I would probably measure about 44 weeks or so. That's pretty much all that happen, my bp was great at 122/70.

My next appt is scheduled for next Tuesday I have to do my glucose test then and also have to get my rh negative shot too. Looks like its gonna be a fun day that day! Let's just hope I pass the glucose test.

Pregnancy - Week 26

How far along: 26 weeks 5 days
Total weight gain/loss: 40 lbs even as of Tuesday
Maternity clothes: At this point I think this is kind of a silly question! I'm now having to buy bigger sized maternity clothes!
Stretch marks: Yes, ugh :-( I have them on the lower part of my belly. I'm not thrilled about them but I'm starting to accept that its just part of carrying two healthy babies.
Sleeping: I've been sleeping a little more decent lately. I get up about twice a night to pee and normally about twice a night to re-adjust my position and pillows. My hubby thought it would be cute to record me snoring the other night. Maybe its pay back for all those nights I recorded him so he'd know what I had to deal with.
Best moment last week: Knowing the my fFN test came back negative and that the babies are going to hopefully stay put a little while longer. I also got to see them which is always exciting.
Symptoms: I have had a huge drop in energy this week! Contractions and hip pain.
Food cravings: I currently love any type of orange flavored drink. I go through a big thing of Gatorade in about 2 days! I also want something to drink constantly.
Food aversions: Nothing
I miss: nothing! I couldn't be happier.
What I am looking forward to: Getting the nursery finished and organized. Our next shower in a few weeks. Making it to 32 weeks, I feel like when I get there I can breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Body Changes: It amazes me how my body has changed. I never thought by belly could stretch like this and at times I tell my hubby I just don't think it could stretch anymore.
Other Thoughts: This week didn't go quite as planned and if my doctor has his way I don't think next week will either. I'm making lists and planning like crazy just in case bed rest arrives next week. Although, honestly I think my body is starting to tell me its at least time to cut back. My hubby and I work at the same health clinic and some days we work 9 hours or more. Its just to much for this preggo momma to handle. I will do whatever it takes to keep these babies put for the next 9 or 10 weeks at least. Oh I almost forgot to mention that both my babies were head down this week. The doctor said there was a pretty good chance they wouldn't stay like that for the remainder just yet but it keeps me hopeful for a naturally delivery.

Bed Rest, Day Care & Baby Gear

First let me start by saying this is going to be a hodge podge of thoughts and things going on right now. I need some advice from mommies, especially those twin mommies who read my blog.

First off I starting having contractions Monday night. I had been having what the doctor called Braxton Hicks for about 3-4 days but these weren't like the Braxton Hicks I had been experiencing before. I ended up making it through the night Monday at home and went into the doctor first thing Tuesday morning. The poked and prodded at me for what seemed like hours yesterday. The good news: my cervix is still closed and measuring at about 3.49 cm, and my fetal fibronectin test came back negative. The bad news: he's going to give me until my appt next Tuesday to try and get myself in line at work and then its probably at least partial bed rest for me :-/ Not exactly what I wanted to hear but I'll do whatever it takes to keep the babies put for a least another 9 or 10 weeks. Please pray for us that the babies will continue to stay put and that they'll be healthy and plump when they do arrive.

Next topic of conversation, day care. After the babies get here I would like to go back to providing some type of income for our family. So Monday they hubby and I took off 1/2 a day and went to tour some local day cares. We went to some places I wouldn't let my dog stay and then we went to some that I absolutely loved. The dilemma is that the one I loved is insanely expensive, especially for two! So in the end it wouldn't really benefit us a ton for me to return to work. We haven't decided what to do for sure and certainly haven't mentioned anything to my work but I am curious what your thoughts are? Do you have any suggestions for job opportunities that allow me to work from home and make decent money?

Last topic of the day, baby/mommy gear. First things first is a breast pump. My doctors office offers a great price on the really nice Medela pumps and at first I was dead set on having one. I want to be able to nurse, pump or do whatever I need to in order to provide that to my children but I'm just really worried that I won't find the time to pump and that nursing will get so time consuming that I'll just resort to formula all the time. I mean we already decided we will have to use formula some too but I'm afraid it will be so much easier that I'll give up on nursing or pumping. Any words of wisdom, advice out there on this subject. Is it worth it so buy the expensive pump?

The second gear item I have questions about is the swing and bouncer. Did you buy two swings and two bouncers or just one of each? If you bought two, did you buy the same two or different ones?

Any advice is encouraged and welcomed!!
