ChocoVine

This morning while I was watching Kathy Lee & Hoda they taste-tested a wine called ChocoVine. It's a mix of wine and chocolate. They didn't seem all to impressed and I'm not sure I would be either. What do you think? Have you tried it before?
ChocoVine is a fine French Cabernet subtly combined with a rich dark Chocolate from Holland, paired together to create a decadent, silky smooth drink, which can be served by itself on the rocks or as the main ingredient to an array of sinful cocktails. ~ From the ChocoVine Website

I have not tried it I don't think wine would taste good with chocolate mixed in. Maybe eating chocolate while sipping on wine now that sounds good with a good book wonderful.

Oh - I have tried it and it's wonderful. I am not a huge chocolate fan - I don't like chocolate ice cream, or cake however I do enjoy a good chocolate bar at times. The closest thing I can compare Chocovine to is Bailey's but Chocovine doesn't have the hard alchol aftertaste. You look at the wine and think it would be really thick but it's great, nothing like the chocolate "drinks" you may have tried in the past. Our favorite way to drink it is with a splash of Frangelico (a hazelnut liquor) in it. It would be great in chocolate martinis etc. My friends have renamed it everything from "Daddy's little helper" to some names I won't repeat here.

At around $10/bottle it's worth a try. The stores in the Milwaukee Area are having a hard time keeping it in stock.

My friend gave me a bottle for my birthday and it was delicious and have tried to find another bottle of it and have not had any luck.

I tried it last night at a wine tasting, and it was fantastic! It is not overly sweet, nor does it leave a harsh alcohol aftertaste. It really is a perfect drink for after dinner. Five of the seven ladies I was with left with a bottle to take home. I highly recommend it.

My friend turned me on to ChocoVine. I love chocolate and I love red wine....put them together and what a delicious combination. It has a smooth texture, sweet taste and is great over a GOBLET of crushed ice! Don't let the easy to swallow drink fool you...don't drink and drive!!!! I think it appeals to ladies moreso than men. Great drink to serve at your ladies-night gatherings.

I had my baptism of ChocoVine at my nephew's home in GA in July of this year. I thought the combination "sounded" unpalatable, but was I in for a pleasant surprise! It's smooth and delish. I do hope I'll be able to find it in PA.

In response to the anonymous post stating that stores in the Milwaukee area are having trouble keeping it in stock; that is an understatement! I have poured samples for this product many times at many different locations. People love this stuff! At $9 to $12 a bottle, it is a great deal. Give it a try; you will not be disappointed.

I was introduced to ChocoVine at a Cork & Canvas party in north Alabama. Oh my gosh, my husband and I are addicted. Refrigerate it and it's and adult after dinner/dessert wine that is delicious if you love chocolate!

It must be cold to be at it's best. The warehouse in the area that carry it is almost out. We have bought cases of it because of the scarcity of it!

My husband turned his nose up at it until he tasted it- now he wants to know when we are having some!

Everyone I've given a bottle to has bought more. Hoda and Kathy Lee are wrong, wrong, WRONG!

Don't judge it unless you've tried it!

A friend gave this to us as a gift. My expectations were low - it looked too much like Bailey's (which I dislike).

Boy, was I wrong! It's not overly sweet, and the chocolate does not overpower the wine.

I haven't tried this cold, as many comments have suggested, but I will with the remaining bit in the bottle. We enjoyed it at typical red-wine temperature, and just a little at a time - usually in a cordial-sized glass. Great after-dinner drink.

I JUST BOUGHT SOME FROM A LITTLE COUNTRY STORE IN AMISH COUNTRY, OHIO. AND I'LL TELL YOU ONE THING I'M NOT BIG ON WINE BUT THIS STUFF IS GREAT. YOU CAN PUT IT IN MILKSHAKES, A LITTLE IN CAKE BATTER OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO WITH IT. IT'S GREAT AND WOULD BUY IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. AND ITS SO MUCH CHEAPER THAN BAILEY'S. SO GO OUT AND GET SOME AND TRY IT. AND THINK ABOUT CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR YOUR GIRLFRIENDS.

I tried it Wednesday night at a wine tasting. It is absolutely delicious. Several men at the tasting were turning their noses up at the thought until they tasted it. The wine just makes the Dutch chocolate richer tasting. I highly recommend it for anyone that appreciates a fine chocolate.

Tastes like Bailey's Irish Cream, in my opinion, but I love it. I keep it chilled and sip on it after a long work day to take the edge off. I wouldn't call it wine, but it's good stuff!

I found this in a little liquor store in South Dakota, and expected it to be not so great, but boy was I surprised! It's wonderful over crushed ice, imagine a creamy and not as heavy or rich as Baileys and chocolate flavored. I wish I could find it locally, but haven't been able too so far. My search continues.

THIS WINE IS AWESOME!!!! I made it like a Chocotini (chocolate martini) w/chocolate flavored sugar on the rim! FANTASTIC!! Any woman who doesn't love this is crazy!!

I didn't think I would like it much, but after a long day of psychedelics I was ready to kick back and relax. I put on some Future Sound of London and took the first sip...

Smooth...

...delightful!

It leaves the prettiest film of chocolate and red wine when you splash it about the bottle.

Definitely worth a try if it's near the $10 range at your store!

By far the BEST dessert drink I've ever had, It's sounds weird with the red wine chocolate mixture,but it taste's great chilled...like bailey's but it does not have the alcohol bite to it....TRY IT:)

I tiried it 2 nights ago at a dinner party and it was fabulous... I have had a chocolate wine before (Choc-a-Bloc, S. Australian, by Stanley Lambert) which was more of a red wine choclate liquer mix but the Chocavine was more of a cream liquor... both very good and worth a try.

My husband and I found ChocoVine at a wine tasting and fell in love. I really hate strong wine and am into the more fruity ones. But buddy, let me tell you this is the bomb. Its awesome on crushed ice. Add a little to your morning coffee just to taste and you too will be hooked. I'm sure it would work in coconut macaroons and such desserts.

My husband and I happened across ChocoVine at a Michigan grocery store recently, and reluctantly decided to give it a shot. We decided to take it to a gathering and everyone, including us, really liked it. I didn't think it tasted like wine (with the taste similar to Bailey's), but it was very good, reasonably priced and definitely worth it.

I represent ChocoVine in Texas and let me tell you, this stuff is on fire. 2009 was the first full year in the US for ChocoVine and it sold 90,000 cases which equates to over one million bottles. I believe it is going to do what Yellow Tail did when it hit the market. ChocoVine is for wine drinkers and non wine drinkers alike. I was skeptical when I first saw ChocoVine until I tried it, the rest in history. Clever Imports was going through over 12,000 cases every two weeks during the holidays and if you see some out in the market, buy a case to avoid being left without any to enjoy if it goes out of stock. You are only cheating yourself if you do not try this product. Kathy Lee is an idiot.

Thanks everyone for all your comments!! I've really enjoyed reading everyone's rating on the wine. Being pregnant I haven't gotten a chance to try to wine yet but after the babies get here I'm going to give it a try.

SeVill - Could you enlighten my lovely readers how they could find their own bottle if they haven't already been able to??? And thanks for commenting! Kind of neat to have a representative of the wine read!

I tasted Chocovine at a Christmas party and loved it! If you like the Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies, then you will like this with a little Creme de'Menthe in it. The proprietor of the store I buy it from says it makes a great milkshake and loves it with Raspberry liqueur in it.

OMG! Had this for the first time last night and was not sure if I would like it as I am not big on red wine. BUT, loved it and had it shaken with ice ~ Delicious after dinner drink. I want to pick up the hazelnut liquour and add a splash of that the next time. What a great hostess gift for that next party AND only cost $10.99.

if you haven't tried it you need to. But don't let it fool you ..you think it's just a glass of wine but the second one creaps up on you. I had a party last week and served chocoloate martinis along with this and every one loved it!It's the talk at work... Chocovine!!! every one drinking it...

I first tried the regular Chocovine at a wine tasting hosted by a friend who owns a shop in May. Tonight I went to another tasting and had the chocolate/raspberry version. It just keeps getting better!

Raspberry ChocoVine is now showing up in markets across the U.S. so keep a look out. ChocoVine is going crazy in 2010. The projection to be sold is 500,000 cases. Crazy numbers.

Also keep an eye out for the first Wine based egg nog to hit the market from the same importer. Will not be out until November. It is also delicious. It is based off of one of the first EggNog recipes ever used.

ChocoVine is in all 50 states in the US and is showing up in every national chain out there. Just ask you local retailer, and they will hunt it down for you.
