Going Private

So I've been considering going private since the babies were born and everyday seems like I lean more and more towards it. However, I want people, especially women struggling with infertility to be able to read my blog and hopefully find some hope. I also worry about our privacy. A lot of things have been going on lately and I worry about our babies. I am curious to get some feedback from all of you out there. So here are my questions. . .

If you are private. . .
1.What made you finally decide to go private?
2. And what impact do you feel like its had on your blog?
3. And lastly, I have a lot of people tell me they read my blog that I never imagined would, I'd love for those people to continue reading but what if they are to shy to ask and just miss out?

If you are still public . . .
1. What made you continue to stay public?
2. Do you worry about your privacy and/or safety?

Again, I'd love some feedback. . . . thanks everyone!

Sorry - too many typos in the first one.

1.What made you finally decide to go private?
When I started EasyMealsformoms.com , it started to creep me out thinking that my family blog was linked to that one and the new blog was getting a lot of traffic.
2. And what impact do you feel like its had on your blog? If you aren't trying to make $ on your blog, really there's not much impact
3. And lastly, I have a lot of people tell me they read my blog that I never imagined would, I'd love for those people to continue reading but what if they are to shy to ask and just miss out?
Then I say they miss out.....if you flat out tell people you are going private, and they don't respond....their loss. You could leave a post on this site with info about sending you an email to a random hotmail account if they want to come to the new site.

My recipe blog is public - trying to make a little money - it's a very slow process.
2. Do you worry about your privacy and/or safety? not really.

Are your photo private or public on FB? That's another thing to consider.

The only way to really go private is to require a password. I have a friend that does that, and I can't keep up with her password stuff....I don't have my last name or location info anywhere on my family blog. I think that helps.

Hi.
This is actually my first time to your blog :)
I also have twins {girls}, struggled with infertility {husband had cancer}, and did IVF!

I read your questions and thought I'd share what works for our family/blog.

I created a HTML code to block people from copying my pics. Now there are always ways around this {anytime you put ANYTHING on the www...but it stops the majority of people}, but you have to be really skilled to get around it!

Second, I use an online source to upload my pics through {not the blogger}, which is marked private {vs public}.

It probably takes a totally of 5 minutes to set these two up and is super easy. I'd be happy to help if you have any questions.

P.S.
Your kiddo are SO precious.
Naturally, I am bias towards twins :)

My blog was my infertility, pregnancy and now baby journal and so when we found out we were pregnant, I wanted to document everything with pictures and updates, etc. I felt it was necessary to go private so I could put pics up without worrying who was looking at them. It was a bit of work to go private, but I'm glad I did. If you do switch, please make sure I can have access so I can watch H & H's twin buddy's grow! :-)

Let's see...I went private to protect our family. I know it isn't perfect, but it does give some piece of mind.
2. And what impact do you feel like its had on your blog?
I lost a lot of followers and commenters, but it is OK with me. Really, it is about documenting the babies and keeping our family up to date.
3. And lastly, I have a lot of people tell me they read my blog that I never imagined would, I'd love for those people to continue reading but what if they are to shy to ask and just miss out?
Hopefully all your readers will continue to follow along. Some people do probably think it is a hassle to sign in.
